Why I Write A Book (1)

cover_99_jurus-dpn-100Don’t worry about this article same with my book’s foreword. This is exclusive to you! Hehehe. This article will reveal the background and the reason I wrote this book. Maybe a bit narcissistic, hehehe.

By: Mochamad Yusuf*

Why would I want to write a book? Want to be famous? Want to earn a lot money? Want to religious charities? Want to keep in mind though it was hundreds of years? Want to have a fan? Want to be invited to chat with Andy F Noya in ‘Kick Andy’ show? Confidence can make Facebook fan-page with status of ‘writer’? Want my autograph will be hunted?

No! All is not right. Er yes … but it’s not my primary intention. My main goal is not it all. If it will be achieved, I think it was just another effect only (hopefully achieve this other effects, hehehe).

My great intentions to write a book is to improve my achievements. Must be more! Even must be great! Should be more remarkable achievements again! More Higher than what I’ve achieved! As Zelda, my 2 years old daughter, when she accomplished something that feels wonderful, “Well, I’m great father!” (Yes, you did Zel!)

Since high school I had a routine written in the column “Student Chronicles (Kronik Pelajar)” Surabaya Post in Sunday editions. “Student Chronicles” is a rubric that was created specifically from the students, by students, for students.

I think the “Student Chronicles” is really the first section for the students. Themes raised about reportage school activities, student achievement and opinions student cases. Sent from the students throughout East Java. And includes the activities of all schools in Surabaya and surroundings.

In the incident I also write in other mass media. But not much.

When a my article published I get honorarium. This honorarium has made I have own pocket money. When the student snack at KFC with parents money, I sat in the corner enjoying the fried chicken, frenc fries, rice and coca-cola with my own money. With pleasure! I bite it slowly, I enjoy the happiness at that time.

I remember KFC package price at the time around 2,250 rupiahs. Standard package: rice, fried chicken, French fries and coca-cola. And my salary was published writings about 15,000. Could be. Depending on writing short length. Yes, honorariums were measured with a ruler. Hehehe.

When published on Sunday, I went to Surabaya Post about Wednesday-Thursday. Even longer. I climbed to the 2nd floor, turn left to meet editors. Ask honorarium letters. Firstly I chat with editors. I do this because thankfull could meet with them. Because one day they become someone great!

First time writing “Student Chronicles’ I met with miss Muflihana, editor. Later she was working at the magazine Femina. Then continued with miss Sirikit Syah, the other great people. Later she moved to SCTV (and I was also followed). She could be president KPID. Now she’s lecturer in STIKOSA, Unitomo and AWS.

The last and longest of the associated is mr Sukemi. Now he is assistant of M. Nuh, education ministry Republic Indonesia. And the last with miss Siane Indriani. I knew her but did not touch intense as the others. Having been graduated from high school. Not allowed to write for “Student Chronicles’ again. But I was still maintaining contacts with the “Student Chronicles”. Now she’s manager of news in the MNC group.
